The vineyard is located on south side of St Maximin, near the Massif of Sainte Baume. The Domaine of Monticoles is situated at the foot of a hill scheltered from the wind . The climate in the area is quite rough, and caracterised by relatively harsh winters. The soils are calcareous clay.
