history
Domaine Chante Cigale, established in 1874 by Hyppolite Jourdan, is a historic family-owned estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Initially named "Clos Chante Cigale," it was renamed in 1936 when Châteauneuf-du-Pape became France's first AOC. Today, under the leadership of Alexandre Favier, the estate spans over 40 hectares across 45 parcels within the appellation. This diversity of soils and grape varieties enables the production of unique wines. Favier and his team oversee each step of the winemaking process, ensuring the preservation of the estate's spirit and tradition.

2023
Fresher red fruits, spring flowers, wild stawberries, and minty herbs shine in the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Pi, a 100% Grenache from sandy soils aged 15 months in foudre. From roughly 170 cases produced, it's medium to full-bodied, with a pure, seamless, layered, incredibly elegant mouthfeel. I love its overall balance, and it has the depth, balance, and structure to benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age and evolve gracefully over the following 15 or more. Drink 2028-2043.
