The story of Domaine La Barroche revolves around people, terroir and passion. The passion is for the good things in life – the love of simple, honest pleasures.
Today, Domaine La Barroche is represented by a veritable patchwork of family members, in much that way that Châteauneuf-du-Pape's 13 grape varieties reflect the appellation's complexity.
Each person has their own individual character, but the same love of the terroir. Julien and Laetitia, brother and sister, are totally committed to their terroir, and exemplify the family values handed down to them. They arrived at the family estate in the early 2000s, and their future looks very bright.
Vineyard
Plots located in the northern part of the appellation: Piedlong and Palestor.
Soils composed of fine sand of marine origin (Miocene sand) and red clay rich in iron oxide on limestone subsoils, resulting in a remarkable balance between freshness, minerality and roundness reminiscent of the finest white wines.
Terroirs left fallow for 10 years, traditional massal selection with Lilian Berrillon’s vine nursery, planting of rootstocks then grafting of vines according to the ancient technique 8 years later; first harvest under the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in 2024.
High-precision viticulture that respects biodiversity.
Winemaking
Manual winegrowing that respects the environment and strict bud thinning.
Manual harvesting with “high-end” uncompromising sorting.
Blending of the Piedlong terroirs, characterized by a dual limestone bedrock adding an iodized, almost salty touch, and the northern slopes of Palestor, marked by a chalky subsoil lending mouth-watering tension and lovely volume.
A blend of Clairette Blanche and Clairette Rose (70% - finesse and aromatic freshness),
Roussane (15% - complexity and structure) and Grenache Blanc (15% - tension) grape varieties.
Slow and gentle fermentation.
Ageing for 12 months on fine lees in demi-muid barrels for both Clairette and concrete eggs for Roussanne and Grenache Blanc.
First vintage of this cuvée: 2024 (bottled on 2 September 2025)
