Le Clos de Chaudeney
Domaine Daniel Reverdy & Fils - Sancerre
White,Sancerre
100% Sauvignon Blanc
history
A family estate located in Verdigny, in the heart of the Sancerre appellation, Domaine Daniel Reverdy & Fils cultivates 9.3 hectares of vines with passion and respect for tradition. Passed down through generations, the domain combines ancestral know-how and sustainable vineyard management to craft wines that express the purity of the terroir. The Clos de Chaudenay parcel, situated just behind the cellar, embodies this philosophy through its unique clay-limestone soil (Terres Blanches).
Vineyard
This cuvée comes from the Clos de Chaudenay parcel, a 35-year-old vineyard located just behind the cellar. The vines are grass-covered and rooted in clay-limestone soils (Terres Blanches), known for imparting both minerality and aromatic complexity. Planting density: 6,500 vines/ha — Yield: 55 hl/ha.
Winemaking
The grapes undergo alcoholic fermentation at low temperature (14–17°C) to preserve aromatic freshness. The wine is then matured on total lees for 8 months in stainless steel tanks, resulting in texture, richness, and depth while maintaining its characteristic Sancerre crispness. Alcohol: 12.5% vol, Acidity: 4.00 g/L (H₂SO₄), Residual sugar: 0.50 g/L
Tasting notes
This Sancerre offers a structured and elegant profile, marked by finesse and balance. The nose reveals subtle citrus and floral notes, while the palate is lively, mineral, and persistent — a reflection of its terroir.
Food pairing
Perfect with fish, seafood, and shellfish, this cuvée also pairs beautifully with light appetizers or fresh goat cheese.
