Château Le Conte was the very first estate from the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation to join the Hugues Laborde vineyards. Located in the village of Saint Hippolyte, it spans 5 hectares. The vines are planted around a guesthouse that opened to the public in 2018
Vineyard
Situated in the village of Saint-Hippolyte across a confidential 5-hectare estate, L’Esprit du Conte is crafted exclusively from 55-year-old Merlot vines rooted in limestone soils. Harvested at dusk to safeguard tension and aromatic purity, yields are naturally limited to 40 hl/ha. This distinct limestone terroir yields a vibrant, refined interpretation of Saint-Émilion, prioritizing linear finesse and silky structure over sheer opulence.
Winemaking
Harvesting take place at night or early in the morning, followed by vatting in stainless steel or concrete vat for a pre-fermentation of aound 10 days, followed by a further 10 days of post-fermentation. The wine is aged for 12 months in one-wine barrels and stainess steel tank.
Tasting notes
Smooth attack, structures mid-palate with silky tannins. Beautiful substance, well-balanced between fruit, roundness and freshness. Long, persistent finish with woody and spicy notes
