history
A family estate located in Verdigny, in the heart of the Sancerre appellation, Domaine Daniel Reverdy & Fils cultivates 9.3 hectares of vines with passion and respect for tradition. Passed down through generations, the domain combines ancestral know-how and sustainable vineyard management to craft wines that express the purity of the terroir. The Clos de Chaudenay parcel, situated just behind the cellar, embodies this philosophy through its unique clay-limestone soil (Terres Blanches).
Vineyard
Sourced from 75-year-old Sauvignon Blanc vines, the Anthéa cuvée captures the power, depth, and refinement of Sancerre's finest terroirs. The vineyard is planted at a density of 6,500 vines per hectare on the famed Terres blanches, a deep Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soil renowned for lending rich structure, longevity, and mineral tension. With controlled yields of 50 hl/ha, these historic old vines deliver exceptional fruit concentration, complexity, and aromatic purity.
Winemaking
Hand-harvested to ensure optimal bunch selection and skin integrity, the grapes undergo a slow, temperature-controlled fermentation to preserve fine varietal aromatics. The wine is matured on its total lees for 12 months, divided equally: 50% in French oak barrels to build volume and textural sophistication, and 50% in stainless steel tanks to retain vibrant freshness and precision. Dry and focused with 0.60 g/l residual sugar, supported by a striking acidity and 12.6% ABV, this prestigious cuvée is a rare release of only 1,800 bottles.
Tasting notes
Generous and round on the attack, unveiling a creamy mid-palate nurtured by aging on the lees. The rich texture is seamlessly driven by the chiseled, mineral backbone characteristic of Terres blanches. The oak is harmoniously integrated, leading into an invigorating, long, and saline finish.
Food pairing
Seafood & Shellfish: Pan-seared sea scallops, lobster with citrus butter, roasted turbot in cream reduction. Poultry & White Meats: Roasted Bresse chicken with creamy sauce, veal sweetbreads, veal chops with wild herbs. Cheeses: Mature Crottin de Chavignol, aged Comté (18–24 months), ash-coated goat cheese.
